Jordan Gusman won his second medal in the Montenegro Games claiming silver in the 1,500m and Damien Mizzi won the bronze in the 400m.
Jordan Gusman won the gold in the 5,000m on the opening day and is hoping to make it three in a row in the 10,000. Gusman dominated the race but was surprised in the last 100m by an athlete from Luxembourg.
The second medal of the day was obtained by Damien Mizzi in the 400m when he made a great recovery in the last 150m to move from sixth to third and claim bronze.
In other races Paula Grech finished fifth in the 1,500m with 4:31.79, a result very close to Tania Blake’s national record. In the same race Mona Lisa Camilleri finished seventh with 4:37.39.
In the men’s 200m Jacob El Aida Chaffey finished fifth in his heat and ninth overall, thus failing to reach the final. He clocked 22.74 and his brother Omar could not compete because he is injured.
In the women’s 200m Charlotte Wingfield made it to the final with the fourth time overall. Her time in her heat yesterday was 24.71.
In the women’s long jump competition Claire Azzopardi made her personal best with a jump of 5.95m, just three centimetres away from the bronze. In the same competition Rebecca Sare finished in sixth with a jump of 5.65m.
In the 3,000m steeplechase Luke Micallef finished fifth with a time of 9:52.24
