Wiliam Chetcuti missed the gold in the trap competition after losing a shoot-off and had to settle for a silver one, his sixth in his career in the GSSE after winning the previous five in the Double Trap competition.

After the first three rounds on Wednesday, the other two rounds took place in the morning session with William Chetcuti having a total of 119 from 125, finishing first from the first phase after a shoo-off with Andreas Makri of Cyprus.

Malta’s other competitor Brian Magri just missed the final six by one clay finishing with a total of 115 from 125.

In the final round between the top six, William Chetcuti and Nikolas Kyriakou finished with equal clays, and the gold medal went in favour of Kyriakou after a shoo-off. Bronze medal went to Cyprus’ Andreas Makri.

William Chetcuti, together with Gianluca Chetcuti will be back in action today in the double trap competition.
