I am sure that Franco Mercieca from the Labour Party benches has very good eyesight into the future. Reading his article on the back page of another English-language daily recently, I marvelled at how he was bold enough to admit that a family breadwinner could not possibly survive on €1,500 a month.
So does it follow that this back-bencher will do his utmost to change this – or has he already some inkling that with the dismal record of Malta’s low minimum wage (€757.64 a month), another giant step forward is on the cards and our minimum wage will be not less than €1,500 a month?
I have not heard anything from the MCESD but perhaps this is not surprising as, at times, they are just the rubber-stamp folk?
