Shooting: Christopher Farrugia wins the N.O.V.I.T.A. Trap Cup

Christopher Farrugia achieved his second overall win of the season at the Southern Shooting Club when he claimed the N.O.V.I.T.A Cup, an event that was organised on three qualification rounds of twenty five clay targets each, as well as the Final Stages.

Farrugia was joined on the podium by Stephen Vella who finished in the second place and by John Marmara who took third place overall.

After the qualification rounds, the six Finalists in the Bib number order were;

Christopher Vella who had finished with the score of 69/75, Stephen Vella with 65/75+4, John Marmara hit 65/75+3, Christopher Farrugia 63/75+1, Raymond Micallef 63/75+0 and Frank Scorfna scored 60/75.

The Finals results were;

1st Christopher Farrugia 19/25 + 4/5 + 5/5 + 5/5 + 9/10, total score 42/50

2nd Stephen Vella 19/25 + 5/5 + 2/5 + 3/5 + 9/10, total score 38/50

3rd John Marmara 19/25 + 3/5 + 4/5 + 3/5, total score 29/40

4th Christopher Vella 16/25 + 4/5 + 2/5, total score 22/35

5th Raymond Micallef 16/25 + 4/5, total score 20/30

6th Frank Scorfna 14/25, total score 14/25

The top Shooters in their respective classes concluded their qualification rounds with the following scores;

Class A

1st John Marmara 65/75

2nd Eugenio Borg 60/75 (Countback Rule)

3rd George Mifsud 60/75

Class B

1st Christopher Vella 69/75

2nd Stephen Vella 65/75

3rd Raymond Micallef 63/75

Class C

1st Brain Zammit 55/75

2nd George Grech 48/75

3rd Redeemer Portelli 31/75

 

In the meantime, junior MSSF Athlete, Mikaela Galea was competing in the Trap Event at the 2nd European Games that are currently being held in Minsk Belarus. She finished her competition with the score of 89/125.

The MSSF Trap Programme continues on Sunday 07 July 2019 at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club with the Franz Ciantar Cup.
