Vans carrying a poster advertising escort services angered Italian Catholics as the promoters used a verse from the Bible as a form of publicity.

“Man does not live by bread alone” was the slogan used by the promoters, with a photo of a woman eating a baguette – a sexual innuendo which did not go unnoticed.

The vans were seen in Rome and Milan, angering the Catholic community because the slogan used was lifted from the Bible.

“The choice of the slogan was inopportune and offensive,” the Italian Episcopal Conference told Il Messaggero. “We will protest until those vans are not seen on the road any more. Young children can see those adverts, which are offensive to Jesus’ words.”
