A driver has been handed a £2,000 (€2,200) fine after being caught flicking cigarette butt out of car window.
Gary Jones, from Plymouth, refused to pay an £80 fixed penalty notice for littering and denied the offence.
But the 30-year-old failed to attend two court hearings, according to The Sun.
It is said a council enforcement officer saw Jones flicking the cigarette butt from the car.
City Justice of Peace (JP) found Jones guilty and fined him £300 with a £1,665 costs.
They said the £2,000 fine could send a strong message that littering would not be tolerated.
