Former WWE superstar, Tajiri, is scheduled to join local wrestling promotion Pro Wrestling Malta in their event on Saturday.

Taking place at the Palace Theatre in Paola, a number of international wrestlers are also earmarked to take part alongside local athletes.

Set up four years ago by local office worker turned professional wrestler Wayne Pace, professionally known as Gianni Valletta, the promotion has come leaps and bounds from its humble begginings, with some events pulling crowds of up to 250 people.

Speaking with this newspaper after the press conference, Pace expressed his excitement for Saturday's event, noting that the fans have already been rushing to get a ringside seat for the event.

Japanese-born Tajiri added that the intimate nature of Maltese culture made the experience all that more interesting for him, noting how it's common to see people outside sitting on their doorsteps in some places.
