Two kittens were found dismembered in Paola on Thursday, where only parts of the animals left intact were the head and paws. A spokesperson from animal welfare group Time For Change said that the precisions of the cuts proved that it was a human who committed the act.

'We're very shocked and major action is needed to protect stray animals in Malta. His abuse is sadly becoming a trend,' the post continued and stated that they refuse to attach any photos due to their highly graphic nature.

On social media residents commented that they found the dismembered bodies of the two kittens on Wednesday evening and had contacted police and cleaning department regarding the issue. Residents of Paola express their shock and hope that the case will be investigated, as concerns grow that such cases will begin to happen more frequently.

The Paola council filed a police report after the discovery of the kittens in St George's Street. The council has already received numerous reports of poison being left in cat food around the area and the mayor has appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
