Matthew Carbone has been appointed as Head of the Government Communication with effect from 1 August, the government said in a statement.  He succeeds Kurt Farrugia, who has been appointed as Malta Enterprise CEO.

Nigel Vella has, meanwhile, been appointed as Deputy Head of Government Communications.

Carbone had been serving as Deputy Head of the Government Communication since 2013 after a career in journalism. He graduated in Communication from the University of Malta.

Vella has been serving in the Government Communication Office as spokesman for the Government since July 2017. He has worked in the field of communications since 2012. He is a history graduate.
