Birkirkara FC said in a statement yesterday that the club and player Miguel Alba have resolved their differences and he will be staying with the Stripes according to the two-year contract signed last month.
The player had left Malta without the club's permission and it was reported that he was going to sign a contract with Bolivian club Deportivo Jorge Wilstermann.
But later, the Stripes verified that Alba had left the island because of the health condition of his mother. It also resulted that the midfielder had not signed any contract with Deportivo Jorge Wilstermann.
According to the club's official website, Birkirkara FC is fining the player three months' wages and he is to report for training once again from tomorrow.
While Alba is expected to issue a statement himself on the matter, the Stripes also said that the contract signed last month is still valid and they are obliged to honour it.
