"Without doubt we got a very good first leg result in Luxembourg. This obviously gives us more impetus and courage to go for a win tomorrow and eventually progress further into the competition. As you know we will have four players missing through injuries and suspension, namely Bojan Kaljevic, Santi Malano, and Jonathan Caruana all injured plus Rowen Muscat who is suspended. Nevertheless I am a firm believer in our crop of youngsters who are coming up and who are showing very good promise.I also think that both our new signings, Douglas Packer and Kevin Tulimieri will play a good part in this squad this season, though to be honest I would have preferred them to be more match fit. Still they are getting on well physically and are now in good shape.
"No doubt that tomorrow we will be playing an offensive match against Dudelange. I can confirm that my formation will be based with two strikers up front so there is no way we will be defending the result. On paper we start as favourites, but of course this is football and anything can happen. We will show respect to our opponents, Dudelange, a very difficult opponents with quality players in particular the foreign ones. But of course I do believe in my players and in my team. I am sure they will rise to the occasion and perform well," stated Valletta head coach Darren Abdilla.
Steve Borg stated: "During half-time in Luxembourg, our coach told us to do our best to get a goal back so our chances in the second leg would be higher. That is what we did and more. We all believe in ourselves and we believe we can win tomorrow. This bunch of youngsters coming up looks very promising and this augurs well."
On the other side, Dudelange head coach Emilio Ferrera Patricio stated that the first leg result was a fair one.
"I do believe that the first leg result was a fair one. First half belonged to my team, second half belonged to Valletta. Yes a fair result so I am not disappointed."
Midfielder Mario Pokar also stated it is a must-win situation for his team.
"Yes we have to win to go through. We all know we have to beat Valletta to go through. Valletta are a good team but we believe in our team."
