Two people died and 12 others were injured in a theme-park ride accident in Ahmedabad, India.

The Discovery ride at Kankaria Amusement Park was carrying 31 people when the main shaft broke mid-ride on Sunday, international media report.

Two people in their twenties were killed instantly, state minister Pradipsinh Jadeja said.

The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Investigations are underway.
