The Hockey Association Malta (HAM) has announced the final selection for the National Team that will be going to Gibraltar to participate in the Eurohockey Championship III between the 28th July and 3rd August.
The 18-man squad is Shamison Mifsud, Emile Borg, Luke Brincat, Juan Sarcia, Steve Portelli, Edward Hughes, Joseph Cuschieri, Andrea Curmi, Silas Plaehn, Shaun Grima, Keith Calleja, Ryan Dalli, Zachary DeGiovanni, Keith Bajada, Thomas DeGiovanni, Christ Agius, Luke Bajada, and Jonathan Borg.
The Maltese contingent will be led HAM President Gordon Mifsud. Technical direction will be in the hands of National Coach Andre Ghio and Assistant Coaches Chris Attard and Luke Mallia. The contingent will also include Team Manager Shawn Falzon and Umpire Nathan Galea.
Malta will be in Group B that includes Portugal, Slovakia and Croatia. Group A consists of Turkey, Switzerland, Lithuania and Gibraltar.
Gordon Mifsud said that no doubt the team, like any Maltese National side, would be facing a strong challenge against the bigger countries. However, he was confident that, as always, the players would rise to the occasion. He stated that these last weeks of training have allowed the players to put aside the local petty rivalry and mould themselves into one unit with one aim honouring their Country.
