Bad weather has hit the central and northern part of Italy, killing two people on Saturday, Italian media report.
In the Fiumicino area, close to Rome, a car with a woman inside was lifted by a whirlwind and smashed against the road, killing the driver instantly. The woman had taken refuge in a parking area during the storm but her car, a Smart, was picked up by the strong wind and carried for several metres before being dumped back onto the ground.
In Alto Adige, a 45-year-old woman was struck by lightning while she was taking part in a race. She was taken to a hospital in Bolzano but died soon afterwards.
Storms have hit most of central and northern Italy while the south is experiencing hot weather.
