Earlier on Sunday afternoon, Maltese driver Paul Galea was in action at the racetrack of Akbuzat in Ufa Russia as he participated in the 3rd Leg of the Mediterranean Horse Racing Championship. Galea managed to win the first race with horse number 2 Viking going straight to the front and leading all the way whilst in the second race he could only finish 6th. In the overall classification the winner was French Martin Cormy who won the second race with the same horse as Galea. Paul Galea was second overall followed by Ivan Vukov of Serbia in third place.

This was Galea's first international victory and like all the Maltese drivers that participate abroad he managed to impress to the point that he was offered to drive a mare in a normal race with Russian drivers. In this race he finished 2nd even though the mare was quite a tough one to handle.

Paul Galea returns back to Malta tomorrow Monday.
