There has been a years-long argument about whether pineapple should be an ingredient for pizza, but now another discussion has been sparked on the internet after a man admits to putting watermelon.

An unnamed man has said on Reddit that he started putting watermelon on pizza after he liked it the first time when he was dared to do it.

He wrote: "I like watermelon on pizza. I was asked to do it on a dare and I really liked it. So I put watermelon on my pizza now.

"What I do is let it bake basically until it’s done with a few minutes to spare, then I put the watermelon on then put it in until everything is cooked fully."

The response he received was largely negative, to say the least. One reader suggested that there should be a special circle in hell for putting watermelon on a pizza.

But others were more open. One other reader said he would try it. After all, he wrote, watermelon with basil and balsamic vinegar is one of his favourite dishes.
