Help re-plant The Amazon with Yobetit

Tuesday, 27 August 2019, 16:23 Last update: about 5 years ago

Yobetit has turned to the World Land Trust (WLT) to begin replenishing the Amazon rainforest. When bettors place a deposit between 26th and 31st August, Yobetit will plant one tree. So, just by playing with Yobetit you can play your part in rebuilding the Amazon.

Since its foundation in 1989, World Land Trust has funded partner organisations around the world to create reserves and give permanent protection to habitats and wildlife. To date, WLT has helped secure more than 774,282 acres of threatened habitat in 20 countries, and Yobetit aims to be part of it.

On 19th August the sky in Sao Paulo blackened due to the smoke drifting from the fires 2,700km away. This was the first real sign of panic as it caused a daytime blackout, making the extent of the fires even more clear. Therein began the hashtag #PrayforAmazonia, and the desire to act fast.

The Amazon could take around 20-40 years to regenerate, however, any fires that are currently burning will leave the surviving trees more vulnerable to drought and repeated fires. Thus it is important to plant new trees to provide more opportunities for growth and strengthen the Amazon, providing better promise for the future.

"The recent Amazon crisis has many people from all over the world wondering what they can do to help. We started this campaign to provide people with the option to become a part of the solution. We are humbled to be a part of it, and hope we can make a difference together." said Head of Marketing Michael Hjelm.
