Works on a major road in Nadur, Gozo that was possibly soon to collapse due to what appeared to be a sinkhole beneath the tarmac, are well underway, images reveal.

The Gozo Ministry had reacted to reports and closed the road to traffic, as was reported on 8 September.

Ministry for Gozo officials were duly alerted to take necessary action, Gozo Minister Justyne Caruana had previously said. "The condition of roads in Gozo is the consequence of years and years of neglect and that is why with Progett Ghawdex we are doing a number of road works concurrently to address this issue," she added.
