Two people grievously injured after car crashes into tree in Paola

Two people were grievously injured early on Sunday morning when a car crashed into a tree in Paola.

The accident took place at around 4.15pm in Triq Vjal Sir Paul Boffa, the police said.

The Mazda Demio was being driven by a 45-year-old man from Mosta. A 46-year-old woman from Zabbar was also in the vehicle.

They were assisted by members of the Civil Protection Department and taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

The case is being investigated by the police.
