The police on Tuesday seized 40 kilogrammes of cannabis, arresting two Sicilian men and a Maltese man in connection with the find.
A car intercepted in Swieqi contained 14 carton boxes with the 40 kilogrammes of cannabis, and the driver and a passenger – the two Sicilians, one of whom resides in St Paul’s Bay – were arrested. The Sicilian men are aged 36 and 46.
A Maltese 61-year-old man, resident in Santa Venera, is also helping police in the investigation.
Magistrate Neville Camilleri is conducting an inquiry.
The Sicilian men will be charged in court on Thursday. The police said that it is not excluded that the Maltese man is arraigned as well.
