90 prisoners undergoing drug rehabilitation

90 prisoners are currently taking methadone as part of their drug rehabilitation, Minister for Home Affairs and National Security Michael Farrugia said on Wednesday.

Replying to a Parliamentary Question by by PN MP Beppe Fenech Adami, Farrugia explained that, currently 90 persons are taking medical treatment due to their drug dependency problem. He said that 81 persons are also seeking psychological support from the Psychological Services provided at the Corrective Service. Currently, 15 people are attending a residential programme. 44 people are being assisted by Agenzija Sedqa and Caritas to prepare them for a residential programme.

Replying to another PQ, Farrugia said there are 18 inmates under the age of 20.
