The case for the beatification of Adelaide Cini will be reopened by Archbishop Charles Scicluna, the Curia announced in a statement.

The re-opening of the case will be formally announced during a Mass led by Mgr Scicluna on Tuesday 15 October, 100 years from the exhumation of her body at the Addolorata Cemetery to be transported to the Cini Institute, where she is still buried.

Adelaide Cini had been declared venerable by Pope Pius X on 23 February 1910.

The mass will be held at 7pm at the chapel of the Cini Institute in Santa Venera.

Cini, born in Valletta in 1838, had worked with women who were victims of prostitution and their children. She died in 1885, aged 46.
