"The 2020 budget is testament to this Government's work towards making our society grow, as a democracy and also culturally," stated Minister for Justice, Culture and Local Government Owen Bonnici, during a press conference highlighting budgetary measures which fall under his Ministry's remit.

Minister Bonnici noted that once again, this Government is investing heavily in our country's culture sector, which is one of the main factors which shape our identity as a country. "During 2020, we will be working towards an extensive consultation focusing on the better cultural use of Pjazza Teatru Rjal, which will look into maximising this unique cultural location's potential so that it will better serve its role in our country's cultural and artistic calendar. We will also be introducing a new cultural policy, which will reflect our aims with regards to the sector's growth, accessibility and sustainability," Bonnici continued.

Bonnici noted that the measures mentioned in the 2020 budget in relation to culture are all something which our society can benefit from, in a manner that promotes a better way of life for our citizens, through the strengthening of our cultural product.

He also referred to the ongoing restoration works, which form a central part of our cultural strategy, especially since they continue to further strengthen the cultural legacy for generations to come. Minister Owen Bonnici also referred to the measures in relation to the justice sector, which include the continuation of modernising the sector thanks to digital technology, which will deliver better and more efficient services to our citizens. He also mentioned the ongoing process for the strengthening of the Asset Recovery Bureau and the separation of the Attorney General's duplicate functions.

Bonnici concluded by stating that these are only some of the measures for 2020, which will keep on building on the work done during the past years.
