The international programme of events of Gozo's Gaulitanus Choir continues with a 2-legged concert tour of France, indeed Paris and Corsica, between the 6th and the 10th November 2019.
In Corsica, the choir will be representing Malta in the 21st edition of the Rencontres Musicales de Mediterranee - the important festival featuring ensembles representing various countries from the Mediterranean basin. This ensues from the invitation of the Jeunesses Musicales de Mediterranee and will actually be the choir's fifth appearance at the Rencontres. The Gaulitanus Choir will feature in a concert at Bastia's Théâtre Municipal alongside a French and an Egyptian ensemble, participate in one of the festival's educational events, as well as take part in the concluding Soirée de Gala alongside all the other participating groups.
En route to Corsica the Gaulitanus Choir will be in the French capital, where it will give an afternoon concert at one of the most important concert venues in Paris, L'Église Sainte-Marie-Madeleine. The event, also held with the collaboration of the Maltese Embassy in Paris, will the choir's first public performance on mainland France.
During this concert tour the choir will be led by its founder-director Mro Colin Attard and its repertoire will essentially consist of Maltese compositions - hence enhancing the Gaulitanus Choir's role in being a foremost ambassador of Maltese music abroad.
This French tour will be the 19th venture abroad for the Gozitan choir, and follows the choir's previous two highly successful concert tours abroad earlier this year in Italy (Assisi and Rome) and in Latvia (Riga, Kuldiga and Salaspils).
