An elderly man was seriously injured when he was hit by a car in Fgura on Monday evening, the police said.

The accident took place in Hompesch Road at 7pm.

The driver of the car kept on going after hitting the elderly man, a 73-year-old of Tarxien.

The pedestrian was given first assistance by a medical team before he was taken to Mater Dei Hospital.
