A woman was found dead in the sea close to the shore in St Julian’s, the police said.

The grim discovery was made by passers-by at around 7.10am.

The woman was brought to shore by the police and paramedics.

No further details were available.

The woman's identity is unknown

The body was found close to the Neptunes pitch, beneath the promenade facing the Balluta church.
