For the first time ever, I got a Planning Authority notification of a development application in my letter-box. The notice for PA/09273/19 is for yet another large development on the left of my apartment, replacing a large villa and large garden. For the last two years, our neighbourhood has had to endure demolition and excavation noise followed by building noise, dust and street closures on a daily basis. One large site is opposite my apartment and another ar the back of my apartment. The latter has meant the destruction of all the back gardens of that site.

Besides the very large sites, there are also a number of smaller works which add to the general chaos. We are surrounded by cranes. We get no peace and are sometimes unable to air our laundry.

So forgive me if I have no time for anyone who dares to say “we have a good quality of life”.
