Yorgen Fenech compilation of evidence to start before magistrate Nadine Lia on Wednesday

Monday, 2 December 2019, 12:58 Last update: about 5 years ago

The compilation of evidence against Yorgen Fenech, suspected of masterminding the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia, will be heard by Magistrate Nadine Lia.

The process will start on Wednesday. The compilation of evidence must begin before December 15.

Magistrate Lia was selected by lot.

She may choose to recuse herself from the case, given that her father-in-law, lawyer Paul Lia, is the personal lawyer of Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

Fenech has claimed that the PM's former chief of staff, Keith Schembri, was behind the Caruana Galizia murder and said that he has incriminating information about a variety of top government ministers in Muscat’s government.
