Five-car crash leaves two men injured

A five-car crash in Kirkop left one driver seriously injured while another was also taken to hospital for treatment, the police said.

The accident took place in Triq il-Mini ta’ Hal Kirkop at 3pm.

A 42-year-old man from St Paul’s Bay lost control of the Ford Escort he was driving and crashed into a Suzuki Alto driven by a 29-year-old woman on Zurrieq and a Land Rover driven by a 41-year-old man of Fgura.

The latter two cars careened into two others, a Smart driven by a 29-year-old woman of Qrendi and a Toyota Aygo driven by a 28-year-old man of Siggiewi.

The Escort driver had a 35-year-old man of Gzira riding as a passenger.

The two men in the Escort were taken to hospital, with the driver suffering serious injuries while the passenger suffered slight injuries.
