Former minister and European Commissioner John Dalli has replied to the testimony given by former police commissioner John Rizzo, on Tuesday in the public inquiry into the assassination of Daphne Caruana Galizia.

“John Rizzo perjured himself by giving false information,” Dalli alleges.

Dalli said he returned to Malta on Saturday 6 April 2013 a full week before Rizzo resigned, Dalli said.  “Also, my lawyer had informed the police beforehand on when I was due to arrive.” Rizzo told the inquiry that Dalli had returned after his (Rizzo’s) resignation.

John Rizzo was also quoted as saying that “The police must investigate whenever a report is filed, even if it is anonymous,” Dalli said. “This is another untruth as I made a number of reports directly to him and which he never did anything about.”
