There are currently 2,920 people on the waiting list for social accommodation, Parliamentary Secretary Roderick Galdes said on Wednesday.

He was replying to a Parliamentary Question by Nationalist MP Ivan Bartolo.

The MP asked how long the waiting list was in March 2013 and what the current figures are.

Replying, Galdes said there were 2,800 people on the waiting list in March 2013. As at 15 January of this year, the number was 2,920. 

Answering a seperate question, Galdes said that only 10 newly-built units were distributed for social housing purposes since 2013.
