Foreign Minister Evarist Bartolo said this morning that Malta needs to do much more to be believed that it is working against criminals.
In a post on Facebook, Bartolo said Malta’s reputation does not depend on what we say about our country.
“It depends on what the people leading the country do. Are we really against crime? Against murder? Against corruption? Against money laundering? Against those who use our country to hide illegal economic activities?”
To be believed and regain the confidence of the rest of the work, there is a need of enforcement. It is not enough to enact laws and create structures to investigate. People need to be taken to court and be punished, whoever they are, he said.
