Tuesday, 11 February 2020, 16:48 Last update: about 5 years ago

Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri has revealed that there is a whistleblower involved in the case revolving around police officers from the traffic section.

While the minister did not mention any specifics during his Parliamentary intervention, The Malta Independent was informed earlier today that 35 traffic police officers were arrested in an overtime abuse investigation.

The minister said that the police confirmed during the day that a number of traffic officials were "questioned on allegations that there were in this section even through a whistleblower a few weeks ago."

He said that investigations are still ongoing.

The minister said that this is an important division within the Police force, and said that the police are doing their job and he is looking ahead for these investigations to conclude. "From there the police and the courts will decide on the case."
