Labour Party CEO Randolph Debattista has been sacked and replaced by George Azzopardi,

The decision was taken by Prime Minister Robert Abela on Wednesday, Times of Malta reports.

Debattista is expected to be given a job with a state agency. He was appointed to the position of CEO in 2017, replacing Gino Cauchi.

He had worked at Malta’s permanent representation office in Brussels before the 2017 election.

In December, Debattista had been at the centre of a controversy after uploading a post on the social media saying there was no place for criminals in the party. He had also expressed his disbelief that former OPM chief of staff Keith Schembri had told investigators that he had lost his mobile phone.
