It’s official: Pope visit to Malta postponed

The Pope's visit to Malta has been postponed because of the Coronavirus situation, the Maltese Curia announced.

In view of the current situation around the world, and in agreement with the Authorities and the Catholic Church of our country, the Apostolic Journey by Pope Francis to Malta and Gozo has been postponed, the Curia said today.

The date of the journey will be determined at a later stage. 

Pope Francis had been scheduled to visit Malta in the last weekend of May.

The Malta Independent had reported about the likelihood that the Pope’s visit to Malta is postponed on 11 March.
