A man who had been hiding from the police for the last six weeks was arrested on Tuesday, the police said.
The 45-year-old man from Birkirkara had been wanted for a series of thefts, including a hold-up that was carried out in Cospicua on 16 March, and other thefts from cars and petrol stations.
In a statement today, the police said it received information that the man was in hiding in a Zurrieq house.
Police officers surrounded the area and the man, who noticed their presence, tried to escape by jumping onto roofs of adjoining residences.
The police continued to follow his movements until he was arrested.
The man is set to be arraigned later today.
