Friday, 3 April 2020, 16:07 Last update: about 7 years ago

Five local councils have complained about the inconvenience being caused by construction work to residents in their locality, particularly elderly persons.

In a letter to Environment Minister Aaron Farrugia, the mayors of St Julian’s, Swieqi, Sliema, Gzira and San Gwann said that they had received numerous complaints by people who have been told to stay at home all day and now how to endure endless noise coming from construction sites.

How can these people be expected to stay at home all day when the noise is creating so much inconvenience, the mayors said.

The mayors suggested that digging and excavation work should be limited to between 8.30am and 1pm.
