Department of Industrial and Employment Relations to shut offices; services will continue via phone

From Wednesday 15 April, The Department of Industrial and Employment Relations (DIER) offices in Melita Street, Valletta, will be temporarily closed to the public due to the Covid-19 outbreak on the island, as a precaution to safeguard the health of the public and the workers, a statement read.

The department will continue to ovver its services via telephone or online.

The public wzould be able to access the department's services through the helplines 1575 and  1576 , that were set up for this purpose.

1575 is for employees and workers who want to ask questions about their working conditions, while 1576 is for employers. One can also contact the department by emailing [email protected].  

Minister within the Office of the Prime Minister Carmelo Abela thanked the department's employees for all their work, and said that, on average, 1,000 calls and 300 emails are being answered each day.

Minister Abela assured the public that the DIER is committed to continue doing all that is possible to offer advice and clarifications to both employees and employers.
