Former Inter coach Gigi Simoni has died, aged 81, Italian media report.
Simoni had led Inter to win the Uefa Cup in 1998, and has that year won the best coach award in spite Inter finishing in second place behind Juventus, in a season characterised by the controversy in the Juventus-Inter match, calciomercato.com reports.
Simoni had also coached Genoa, Brescia, Pisa, Lazio, Empoli, Cosenza, Carrarese, Cremonese, Piacenza, Torino, Cska Sofia, Ancona, Siena, Lucchese and Gubbio.
As a footballer, he had played for Mantova, Napoli, Torino, Juventus, Brescia and Genoa.
