Stephen Cachia has been appointed Director of Lasallian Education in Malta. Mr Cachia will be responsible for De La Salle College, Stella Maris College, and all educational programmes offered by the Lasallian Institute.

Cachia, a former Lasallian student, has served in top posts across the educational field in Malta - including as College Principal within the state sector; Principal and CEO of the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST); and, most recently, Director-General within the Ministry of Education.

He will be working closely with the Heads and Senior Leadership Teams at the two colleges of the De La Salle Brothers, as well as with the La Salle Retreat Centre.

The appointment was made by the Malta Trust of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Cachia will play a key strategic role in the Lasallian mission to offer a Christian education in humanity and its 21st-century challenges.

The Trust expresses its profound gratitude to Br Martin Borg and Br David Mizzi, the outgoing Directors of De La Salle and Stella Maris respectively. Over long decades of selfless service, the two Brothers have contributed enormously to establishing the academic excellence and social inclusivity of the Colleges. To many former Lasallian students worldwide they are living legends of a memorable schooling.

Cachia will take up his position in September 2020.
