17 local councils want to install 21 speed cameras

17 Local Councils have applied to install 21 speed cameras among their localities, Local Government Minister Jose Herrera said.

He was replying to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Silvio Grixti.

The data tabled by Herrera shows that the Vittoriosa and Birzebbuga local councils have requested to install 3 speed cameras each.

The Mqabba local council wants to install two speed cameras.

The following local councils have applied to install one speed camera each: Qormi, Zabbar, Zejtun, Attard, Ghaxaq, Iklin, Marsascala, Mellieha, Naxxar, Paola, Qala, Rabat and Imtarfa.

The Ghajnsielem local council has asked to install speed cameras in Triq l-Imġarr but did not specify the amount.
