A man was taken to hospital with serious injuries after he was found in a pool of blood in Zebbuga this morning, the police said.

The police were informed that their assistance was required after the man was noticed lying on the ground, at about 8.30am, in Mdina Road.

The man was wounded and was being given first assistance by people who happened to be in the vicinity, before he was taken to hospital.

The police are still trying to establish the dynamics of the incident.

Magistrate Caroline Frendo Dimech is leading an inquiry.
