Two men were arrested by police for allegedly working together and robbing the same employee’s workplace.

Police said that the men, a 32-year old from Attard and a 42-year-old from Gzira, were allegedly involved in a robbery in Birkirkara last Wednesday.

The police said that on Wednesday morning at around 8:15am, they were informed of a robbery from a gaming shop in Valley Road in Birkirkara.

On site, Police found the employee – the 32-year-old – who explained that he had come out of the establishment with a bag of money. As he was putting it in the car, a motorcycle stopped next to him.

The employee alleged that the rider of the motorcycle got a knife out and took the bag, which contained a considerable amount of money, away from him before escaping from the site.

Police said that from their investigations, it resulted that the employee himself was involved in the robbery along with the 42-year-old motorcycle rider.

The two men were arrested and searches in the past few hours at garages and private residences by the police’s Criminal Investigation Department resulted in the finding of the motorcycle used in the robbery, and the vast majority of the stolen money – most of which was hidden in the motorcycle itself (below).

The two men are expected to be arraigned in court on Saturday before Magistrate Doreen Clarke.
