A public health alert has been issued after a Covid-19 case attended the Santa Venera feast last week.

Health authorities said that the person, who was a local, sporadic case, attended the village’s band club on Wednesday 22 July and the village feast march on Thursday 23 July.

People who attended these events are encouraged by health authorities to phone 111 to arrange an appointment to get tested for Covid-19, and are also advised to closely follow their health for symptoms for 14 days.

It was not mentioned when the person in question tested positive for the virus.

The alert comes at when calls for mass gatherings such as parties and feast marches to be banned again have increased. This is owing to a recent spike in cases mainly due to a cluster of cases which spread from a weekend long party at a hotel some ten days ago - a cluster which now numbers 16 people.
