Robert Arrigo files police report after ‘hostile takeover’ attempt

Wednesday, 29 July 2020, 14:50 Last update: about 7 years ago

Nationalist Party deputy leader Robert Arrigo has filed a police report after what he described as an attempt for a “hostile takeover” of the party’s media.

In a post on Facebook, Arrigo likened the turmoil within the PN to the Coronavirus, saying that the virus has spread after an incubation period of three years.

“It seems that besides the hatred shown towards the leader, I am now targeted by the klikka of rebels. Called a liar and asked to be side-lined and now a new scoop, an MP sending an email to take over our media. These are all part of a hostile takeover. Confusion already arose on the possible variables, adding to an internal struggle within PN 16,” he said.

This weekend, the PN will hold a general council to decide whether a convention will be organised to elect a leader or a vote to confirm or reject incumbent Adrian Delia.

This is Arrigo’s post in full

Covid-2020 - After an incubation period of 3 years, our virus has now spread. We have contaminated the party and its members. Long and useless meetings that leads to nowhere are our own downfall.

This group is now meeting as a parliamentary group, without tmexxija. They already took over. Please do not let them take over by inheritance or bestowing. The party belongs to all.

Such is the strength of the hatred that it makes me wonder if there is a gold mine hidden in some basement which is unknown to me.

Data breaches and misrepresentation of the real PN have added to the dose. Email sent, phone calls done all as I write, whilst urging ultimately for an open contest that does not exist. Burning valid candidates now is not an option. It will happen naturally after the election.

Breakups do not help. In these three years we turned around the financials of the party while we did not sell any property on the cheap. We did not pay exorbitant interest rates and we controlled expenses. We also saw that most monies donated really came in!

All this besides the egrant publication, a sure win vitals court case and the notwithstanding obstacle race that started in the first parliamentary group when I was not yet Vici Kap

Loyalty is a must. I swore on a cross to be leali u fidil and I sat on the opposition benches. That loyalty I have kept all through the 4 leaders I have served under. Mistakes were done and we learnt from them, yet I never had any hatred and/or hidden agendas.

I had to act. I thus went to the commissioner of police to report what I deem as unacceptable. A formal report lodged. Why is this situation? Why this takeover bid? I am eager to see what their next move is.

My sincere appeal is to stay and go for a general election with no change yet with more work.

Any alternative is just smoke. Please keep the party as is, and not as anybody's fiefdom.
