A 19-year-old woman was grievously injured in a traffic accident on Friday morning.

The accident happened at around 6:15am in Triq Sir Anthony Mamo in Birkirkara.

Preliminary investigations showed that there had been a collision between an Isuzu being driven by a 44-year-old from San Gwann and a Benelli motorcycle being ridden by the 19-year-old, who is from Qormi.

The woman was taken to Mater Dei by ambulance, where she was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
