Sources within the PN's Administrative Council have said that leader Adrian Delia has called for a full due diligence process on all candidates including himself.

Ahead of tonight’s Administrative Council and Executive Committee meetings, some sources within the PN told The Malta Independent that some pro-Delia members were mulling the idea of asking the Committee to waive the need for Adrian Delia to be subjected to the due diligence requirements for the leadership race, on grounds that he is the current incumbent leader. This however contradicted what ended up happening.

The General Council previously voted for a leadership race to take place. The PN announced earlier today that applications for race must be submitted by Monday at 3pm.

Following the applications being received, candidates are them meant to undergo a due diligence phase before the party moves ahead with the election.

Tonight's Executive Committee meeting will be held only days after the PN's General Council voted to go for a leadership election.  The vote came after Delia lost confidence votes from within his parliamentary group, where 19 members voted against him and 11 voted in favour, and the same executive committee, where 47 voted against him and 36 voted in favour.
