Malta ‘set to be added’ to the UK's quarantine list – report

Thursday, 13 August 2020, 17:41 Last update: about 5 years ago

Malta is set to be removed from England's green travel corridor list, the Guardian reports.

The newspaper reads that a meeting between UK ministers took place on Wednesday where it was decided that Malta would be removed from the corridor list, given the significant rise in Covid-19 cases.

The move would mean that people travelling from Malta will need to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival to England, the report read. It continues that the official decision was expected to be announced Thursday but has been delayed as the UK Prime Minister wants more time to analyse the situation in France, to see whether it should also be moved off the safe corridor list. The report read that a formal announcement is unlikely to be made before Friday.

England will be the latest in a list of countries that have been placing restrictions on people travelling from Malta due to rising Covid-19 numbers. Italy has announced that it requires coronavirus tests for people arriving from Croatia, Malta, Spain and Greece after a spate of new infections were registered in Italians returning home from vacation.
