Once again Neptunes prove to be too strong for Sliema

Thursday, 3 September 2020, 07:34 Last update: about 6 years ago

A five-goal burst in the third session enabled Neptunes to pull away from their arch-rivals Sliema for another comfortable victory, their second in a week.

Like last week, Sliema were constantly frustrated by their opponents and although they kept within reach in the first half of the game, and at one point were level at 4-4, they never really looked capable of upsetting the Balluta Bay side.

Led by Stevie Camilleri and a growing Jake Muscat, Neptunes opened up a 10-4 advantage which allowed them to establish a comfortable margin. When they eased the pressure Sliema were able to pull a few goals back, but Neptunes were too strong for their opponents and took the points home.

Neptunes have caught up with San Giljan in top place, but the saints have played one game fewer.
