A four-goal lead built in the first session paved the way for San Giljan’s victory against Neptunes.

The Reds did get back to within one goal on a couple of occasions but San Giljan then always managed to pull away again to end the game with a 10-6 victory.

This leaves San Giljan at the top of the table at the end of the round robin stage. Both teams qualify directly to the semi-final stage: San Giljan will meet the winners of the Exiles-Sirens clash, while Neptunes will face the winners of the Sliema-Birzebbugia encounter.

The first session was disastrous for Neptunes, as San Giljan took advantage of poor defending to immediately break away from their opponents. Neptunes improved in the second quarter to get to within one goal of their opponents, but San Giljan kept their composure. A Jake Tanti save on a Steve Camilleri penalty gave the saints further boost and they could control the game better in the final stages.

Neptunes were hampered by the loss of the injured Jordan Camilleri as early as the first session.
